Sure, if it were possible to just job hop. The problem is when the job you get into doesn't provide the skills to get into other types of jobs. "I taught myself" does not make you appealing and unless you have the time and money for a homelab, which may not work out on a low salary, it wouldn't be possible anyways. That is where education and certifications step in. Even if someone doesn't have the actual experience, they can at least know enough to figure out how to do the job.

IT is becoming worse as more companies move to MSP models. 10x the work for the same amount of pay. not really a great situation. My advice is dont work for an MSP unless they offer you an insanely high payrate

Great video instruction - you covered almost EVERYTHING and in an easy way to comprehend. I have trouble seeing my TV from my computer which is 10 feet to the side - so when I'm in EXTENDED mode - I can't navigate on my TV unless I get up and move the mouse to the exact spot and click it - a huge pain :( but that's my setup in the living room.

The hospital where I got hired had a falling out with Microsoft. They now use Google products and their tools and systems are hard to navigate and understand with proprietary interfaces in One Identity “Identity Manager”. My IT career has been the study of Microsoft Server, Azure, and 365 and this hospital stopped using it. I feel like I’m back in the stone ages. The system here to fix things are so complicated and I’m hating it. It’s the only IT job location in the area that pays decent though. I also get tired of those who try to circumnavigate the system to get you to fix issues a 4 year old computer user could fix themselves. They never call the corporate help desk. They just blow up our phones. I’m surprised they have the brain power to really take care of patients. It’s scary.

“Janitor, Maintenance, or IT” You know that a lot of IT people have college degrees, yet most employees treat them like janitors or maintenance. We are the slaves that keep things operational and don’t get the respect we deserve. There’s too many divas that work in hospitals. The only good thing about working there and taking abuse from lazy medical staff is that it pays better than most companies.

CompTIA certs give you the theory and definitions needed to homelab properly. From homelabbing, you gain experience and that experience can help you be better at your job, or better position yourself for higher paying positions with more responsibility in IT, or even give you the foundations of starting a business. The end.

I don’t really use my 2nd monitor for gaming, and I use it yes for games but my games are just the most basic games and I afk them, im not focused on fps or graphics, only for the screen actually working and getting me more space. Shud I?
